A short story about transforming chaos into creativity. |
There I sat in the middle of my floor, surrounded by screaming children, a barking puppy and a confused cat. Clothes that had been neatly folded and set on the couch to be put away were scattered across the floor, used as slidy things for the enjoyment of the chaotic children. My cup of coffee. The one that I had thanked God for this morning, was dripping off the side of the coffee table. Thanks to my 1 year old grandson slamming into the table minutes before as he was being pulled backwards by his diaper. The puppy refusing to let go of it. And since there was only enough grounds left in the bottom of the bag for one cup of coffee this morning brewing another cup was not an option. So there I sat amidst the chaos and destruction closing off my mind and envisioning myself lost in the tranquility of a rain forest. A soft, warm gentle rain enveloping me as I listened to the call of the birds perched high in the forest walls. The sound of a gentle waterfall somewhere in the distance reverberated in my ears and the rustle of the forest floor was alive with the sound of animals softly running to and fro. In the midst of my daydreaming I am attacked from all sides and thrown to the ground. Tickle monsters attack as my little ones are now monkeys in my rainforest and we all become a family of monkeys, swinging from vine to vine. Spending the day in the forest laughing and playing and transforming from chaos to creativity. Joining the ebb and flow of life. And celebrating the creation of it all. |
