Hobby: A means to job satisfaction |
There are many things in our day to day life that tend to say a lot about their importance but we never bother to listen. One such a strong word is HOBBY. We find the Hobbies column in each and every resume but we usually entertain it in either of the two ways. Either we write the names of all the games that we have ever played or we know something about or we decide upon something the interviewer will find interesting and impressive. We never write the truth because we have never bothered what really fascinates us; we have never cared to think of that one activity that never creates boredom howsoever longer we are kept engaged with that. Whatever be the reason, hobbies are taken differently in India and in the US. People from the west develop a strong hobby to keep themselves delighted, entertained, stress free and engaged in leisure. They prefer to keep their cellphones switched off in the weekends to forget their professional life in those two days and enjoy it to their best. They find something to rush their home for, after they call it a day in the office. They find something to let them forget the stress at their workplace. And most importantly, they find something which stops them from lamenting for the past and encourages thinking positive for present and the future. People always tend to complain about their current job and their boss and when they move on to the next place they find the previous one better. It is a human tendency and it cannot be get rid off so easily except when we find something very interesting to do after the office hours which is called the HOBBY. |
