The Smallest Angel undertakes a second mission. This time, he won't come home alone
The Smallest Angel’s Second Mission

“Joshua!” While not said aloud it was heard by all,
And for Joshua, it was impossible to ignore the call
He flew like the wind to get to the throne
“It’s time Joshua, for Cameron to come home”

“I want you to greet him as the man you would have been,
He’ll know who you are, and where you came from then
He already senses his time on Earth is done
He’s passed his Jester skills on to another young one”

Nodding in agreement Joshua thought of the past
When he met Cameron, and saw him last
He remembered working together on his Jester skills
How becoming that person had cured his ills

Joshua sped to Cameron in the blink of an eye
For angels fly unseen all over our skies
He appeared just outside of Cameron’s room door,
Now he was a man, with those bright eyes once more

When he entered the room, Cameron’s eye lit in delight
But also in fear, for it was his last night
Then he smiled a smile that no one had seen
Since he was pronounced cured at age seventeen

“Cameron, I’m here to take you home, your time is done
You’ve done so much for so many, you’ve helped everyone
Who’s met or seen you do your show on the stage,
It’s time to let go, and turn a new page”

Cameron knew he was right, and felt quite relieved,
For his illness had come back, the pain gave him no reprieve
His body was now completely covered in sores,
He knew it was all over, he would live no more

“I see in your eyes that you fear the unknown
The thought of dying brings fear to your bones
But never fear my friend, for where we go is much better,
There’s neither pain nor sadness for you in the hereafter”

Hearing that, Cameron sighed softly and finally let go
He breathed a final breath as a man, and so
His spirit rose beside Joshua’s, he felt free to roam
Then found himself with Joshua, at the foot of the throne

“Welcome home Cameron, it’s been a long road
But one you traveled well, no matter the load
But it’s time to rest, relax and recover,
Your journey’s just begun, it’s certainly not over."
