Follow Vampire Mabel Bennett/ Caroline Williams as she struggles over her past and future. |
I wake up. Today is going to be good. I climb out of bed and knock on Catherine’s door. She opens it, silently. “I’m sorry, Cat” I begin, “I got angry and I’m sorry it was at you. You’re still my soul sista, right?” I see her eyes go wary. “Never again?” She asks, I understand. “Never.” She still looks suspicious so I add, “Never will, swear on my life, uh, my death.” I give her a grin to lighten the mood. Catherine hugs me and strokes my hair. “Carol,” she pulls away, “it’s time again.” “Oh,” I reply, sad, “So it’s tonight. I figured I’d have time to pull myself together.” I drag my feat to my room. “Actually,” Catherine follows me, “it’s right now, they let you rest but we have to go. Now.” She turns back to her room. I grab my black cloak and attire. We grab a handful of rocks and head outside. I throw my rocks into some bushes that cause the children playing hockey to turn, we run. A few minutes later, we arrive at the Circle. We normally meet in this small, circular gazebo, hence the name the Circle. May, James and Peter are gathered in the centre. “Where are the others?” I ask, confused. Alexander never misses a meeting, and Lucy never leaves Peter’s side. I search the trees but no movement. May’s eyes wander and settle on Catherine’s necklace, “That’s what we need to talk about.” She stands on a bench, playing leader for today. She rethinks it and jumps off. “Alexander won’t be, uh, coming anymore, I think,” May starts, “He was walking Lucy here. She sent me a message, we have to go. I’ll explain on the way there is no time.” May grabs my arm, I take Catherine's hand and we run. May sends me a telepathic message, “You have possibly murdered my Ale.” We run faster. What on earth did May mean? James and Peter trail behind us, “Thanks for ditching us, guys.” Peter sneers and sprints trying to get to May. “Girls,” Catherine corrects automatically with an accent. I giggle; May squeezes my arm, hard. She has a grim expression and I know she isn’t joking. I sped up and take Catherine along with me. |
