A Writer with Writer's Block gets unusual help

Word Count 449

The Busy Writer

The busy writer gripped the railing of the cruise ship trying to keep from loosing his cookies again.  He knew something was wrong for this trip as soon as he got on board.  After they set sail, he figured it out.  He didn't see one female come aboard.  His so called 'buddy' booked him on a all 'GUY' cruise.  And with him being straight, from then on he had trouble going below deck.

"Mr. Paul Mac Coy?" A steward asked.

"Yes, I am."

"Sir, telegram for you."

Taking it, "A, thanks." Opening it up.

"Hey Paul...stop...

Hope you are enjoying the trip...stop

You said you needed to work without distractions...stop

There you go...stop

No woman no distraction...stop

Enjoy...stop

Wilbur Stone...stop"

"That lousy good for nothing good friend of mine, bless his sick heart."

A steward was just passing by.  "Excuse me."

"Yes Sir."

"Can I send a telegram?"

"Yes Sir you can.  Just go to the forth upper deck, forward section and follow the signs."

"Thank you."

With that Paul quickly made his way to the telegraph office.  Stopped rapped on the door and waited.  A moment later the door opened.

"Come in Sir, how may I help you."

"I need to send a telegram back to where this one came from."

"Let me see that one." A small pause as he looked it over and compared the log.  "Ah, got it.  There's a slight problem with your request Sir."

"What do you mean 'Problem'?"

"Well, Sir it came from here."

"Wha...How can that be?  Unless..."

The door popped open and a head stuck in, "Hey bud, do you think we would send you out with a bunch of weirdos without some kind of back-up."

Crowding in were all his friends.

"Karen, you here also?"

"Wouldn't miss it for the world.  You said that you were stuck.  We hope this helped."

"It sure did."

The Telegram Officer picked up the receiver.  "Captain.  Go ahead with rendezvous with the 'Queen Mary'."

"You mean this isn't..."  With a stunned bewildered look.

Wilbur piped up, "No, bud, it cost a fortune to pull this off.  To get you on the wrong ship and get the crew to play along and the rendezvous with the right ship and to transfer us all to it.  The look on your face was worth every penny."

"I ought'a kill ya, but,it sure got me out of the slump.  I'm ready to put out the book."  Turning to the Officer.  "Do you know how much longer it will be before we transfer."

"Sir, about ten minutes until we're close enough."

"Let's go have a drink to celebrate good friends before we leave this 'Mary' group."
