Sometimes you don't want the answers.
I went to see the Oracle,
For all the good it did me.
I had a chance to ask
My questions three

Knowledge of my future
I sought to gain
Never did I imagine
It would bring me pain

“Will I find True Love?”
I asked, feeling smart
“No” she answered
Breaking my heart

Still I soldiered on
“How can I find wealth and fame?”
She shook her head
“None shall know your name.”

“Where and when will I meet my demise?”
She drew a shuddering breath
My heart grew faint when she asked
“Would you know the manner of your death?”

What happened after
It pains me to relate
She told me the awful truth
Of my damnéd fate

Ever second is filled with despair
I curse the fact that I know
No one should have the knowledge
Of when they’re going to go

If you have a turn
To face that terrible task
Be careful that the right questions
Are the ones you ask
