This is a bit of the third chapter of my upcoming trilogy, Tempest Law The Solmyr Trilogy.
Not far away from the citadel Courtyard, there was a relatively small shop that sold bolts, screws and other gadgets mainly bought by mechanical engineers and inventors. This shop was owned by a middle-aged man named Borean, he had never been married nor had he ever had any children. What Borean had though, was dreams. From the time he had been a child he had always admired his father, a crafty engineer who at the time Borean was a child had been involved in various creations that was used daily by the people of their city. In comparison to his father, the shop owner had never been involved in anything as grand as the work of his father. Borean was just a regular citizen in Bast’illa that made his living by selling necessities to builders and creators, never having the real opportunity of becoming what he had always dreamed of, because Borean’s life would end today, just as many other people’s lives would.

But this isn’t about Borean, this is more about his house, the house that he lived in and the shop that he sold his merchandises from. More so, this is about the man standing on top of that house. That man was wearing a solid and thick coat, covering all of him but his pitch black leather shoes and likewise shoulder-long hair, blowing in the wind from under his hood.

On official governmental papers, the man’s house belonged to the lowers streets of Bast’illa, making it a relatively cheap rental building, affordable by the likes of Borean even. The thing that had it stand out from the other houses that it shared the street with, was the number of floors and its total height. The house excelled compared to the other buildings, you could say that it was somewhat, “unique”. The cloaked person liked that, he knew how to appreciate that which could stand out from the crowd.

But this wasn’t at all about how “unique” or “extraordinary” the house itself was, he was only interested in its only physical advantage compared to the other structures close by. The house was tall, which was exactly what he had looked for, he was in need of a place where he could go unnoticed by all and still be able to quietly observe everyone else. By his appearance he would have been dismissed as a “careless” individual, especially as one who wouldn’t mind himself with the events that were taking place in the city on this day. But he was actually very much interested; he knew the relevance and importance of what was happening in the fair city. He would go so far as to reckon himself as a very aware individual when it came to the knowledge and understanding of what was about to take place today. He thought himself above comparison with common folks.

After all, all of the arousal and commotion caused by the sudden end of one Senator’s term and the inauguration of a new one had made it significantly easier for any unwanted individuals to simply slip through the securities of the city. Rather fortunate for me, the person thought to himself. It made my task significantly easier.

From the current location he had stationed himself he could easily observe the entire inauguration ceremony without any problems, but he had overestimated his own luck. Though his position was well far enough away from the ceremony for him to be spotted by any soldiers or officials, and now he was able to take part in an event that he would otherwise have been utterly denied. His work had become a tad bit sloppy though, and because of that, this one nose had been successfully able to sniff out his presence. But he didn’t feel like bothering with being concerned, he wasn’t the person to be outsmarted that easily.
