Why did I like history, you ask?
Was it because I enjoyed dwelling in the past?
To learn about what my ancestors had seen?
To know what happened and what could have been?
World Wars and witch hunts, did they amaze me?
Or was it how my country fought to be free?
About religions being found and practiced?
Or how the rulers always did what they pleased?
Maybe it was something else altogether,
That made me strive to perform better,
To bring a smile on the face of the woman I respect,
Was the sole reason for me to use my intellect.
She is one of my favorites, till today,
And will remain so from that day,
When I first saw her in the seventh grade,
And through strong currents she taught me to wade!
