Sharing the delight from a child's POV of Halloween Trick or Treats. |
Darkness of night will be upon me, Viewing the fading glow of sunset, Street lights flicker to light the way, With a full moon rising over head, Gives life to shadows from barren trees, An adventure waits from door to door. Moving along the paths of concrete, Step by step closer to my destination, Straight ahead to the porch lights lit, Excited, but with hesitance to what I see, Hidden in costume, dressed for the occasion Unsure and wondering who stands near me? With hope there’s a trick or treats ahead, Knock, knock, knock, door bell rings, Goose bumps, shivers, awes and smiles, Gathering with delight, wanting a surprise, Bag in hand, shouts of “Trick or Treats,” Surprises and goodies I want to fill my bag. Laughter, giggles, and boos fill the street, Ghost, monsters, fairies and even freaks, Parade the street, going door to door, Chanting that favorite phrase for treats, Hear a scream or yell that gives a scare, A trick has been played with a haunting “Boo!” Written By: Sandy Woolard 10-18-2010 Text Lines: 27 Blank Lines: 5 Total Lines: 32 |
