A walk into the unknown, a battle between heart and mind
Fearful Reassurance

The beat of my heart is all that I hear
As I walk quietly down this unknown road
My hand grow increasing wet with sweat
My legs quiver with each hesitant step
‘TURN BACK’ fearful mind tells me but
I push on ready for it
Butterflies flutter furiously in the pit on my stomach
‘TURN BACK’ fearful mind tells me but
My heart demands my legs to push on
I do not know what lies before me
I pretend not to care
I pretend I do not feel fear's creeping hand
My heart whispers silently reassuring me
I stop
My heart is racing
Faster than ever before
‘TURN BACK’ fearful mind tells me but
My heart wills me to speak
“Hi,” I say to you
And
You smile at me
And say
“Hi”
