I lost more from one word
than most people lose in a life time
I know what it’s like to see a fire die
My heart becomes the true meaning of desperation
Trying to hold on to an emptiness
Still Mirrored in my mind
Let the joy we made wash to the gutters
As our trinkets and bows cast to the wind
I will never love another
Forgiveness and change will be the hardest to mend
That with which still gazes from her eyes
Is now nothing more than mere shadows
To hide all the guilt and lies

How can one word hold the world at it’s feet
So lifeless and so discrete
Challenged by no one
No one to answer to
Hostile yet silent
