This is a bit of the fourth chapter of my upcoming trilogy, Tempest Law The Solmyr Trilogy
The people were in complete chaos.

Men, woman and children were streaming down the streets much the same as the shattering of a buildup dam bursting into pieces and dropping the flood of water down the hillside of a mountain. The nobleman’s daughter had never witnessed anything of this sort before. She felt a staggering wave of panic quickly engulfing her, but she fought with herself to ignore it she was determined that she had whatever she could to find her father and make sure he was unharmed.

Her first task would prove to be one of strength. She’d become lost for a moment and found herself now trying to make her way back again to the citadel after having just dashed out of the area. She now had to fight her way through the masses of panicking people for her to get to the one place no one else in the city wanted to be.

Alicia tried to the best of her abilities to avoid looking any of the people she passed by in their eyes. She was afraid that if anyone were to recognize her they would probably try to “rescue” her or something of that nature and she was convinced that she couldn’t afford for anyone to slow her down. Nevertheless, whatever way she thought of it she couldn’t help but make small glimpses at the fearful faces of the mass.

She saw the face of one of the people in the crowd, it was the face of a grownup woman that was carrying a child in her arms, Alicia couldn’t tell for sure, but she suspected that the woman was wearing the fanciest of garments she owned. The case wasn’t that Alicia could have ever dreamed of wearing such a dress herself, but by now she could see how anyone from the lower streets would think of those clothes as “dressing up”. She had at more than one occasion spent time with Maya when she would express her excitement for a newly bought dress that she adored. Though Alicia thought the dress was rather distasteful she had never expressed her true thoughts on the matter, but rather tried to share her friend’s enthusiasm and make herself seem more companionable.

Alicia had managed to slightly forget herself in thoughts and wonderings and so she didn’t notice the tall, young man who seemed to disregard the situation and regarded only to satisfy his own desperate instinct of survival. Alicia dropped to the floor level of the street. She’d fallen and landed first of all on her rear end, but just as her body was not used to the act of loosing its balance, her arms were just as accordingly equipped to catch her fall. The back of her head would, because of the young individual storming through the crowd, now have the pleasure of making an acquaintance with the darkened gravels of the street road.

Alicia quickly recovered from her fall, but before such things could come to pass she would have to perform her traditional instinctive rituals for any sort of physical pain caused to her, even if the number of such events were minuscule. She got back up from laying in the streets to sitting on her fanny.

She hauled both of her arms to the back of her head and made a solid, strong pressure on the spot she’d smashed upon the road. She groaned in pain and systematically rubbed and pushed at her injury.

If she hadn’t tried to be more cunning than reckless she could have been in grave danger by this time. She’s tried to slither passed the masses of people by hugging the walls as generously as she could, but still avoiding causing the walls to assume any wrong ideas. She could of course have done something else instead, something like perhaps budging violently through the masses, but if she would have done that she would most probably have been stomped and trampled unconsciously by this time.

She crawled the few feet it took her to return back to the comfortable embrace of the friendly wall, which was of course measured in crawling-feet, and got back up on her feet. By this time now she could see the end of the crowd and to her surprise it would seem that the last water drops of the river would appear to be soldiers of the city. She quickly reached out for the arm of one of the soldiers, trying to catch his attention while at the same time not appearing upset or violent. The soldier noticed her hand and turned to face her.

“Excuse me! Soldier!” Alicia asked with a loud tone to her voice. “What’s happening? Where’s Senator Morgan?” The soldier hadn’t managed to completely stop in his tracks and was still skipping along on his way to escape away from the center of the city.
“We’re under attack! We must flee!” The soldier cried out. The nobleman’s daughter was shocked, both by the sight of the fear in the soldier’s eyes and how strongly his fear had shook him enough to flee in panic. “S-so close… W-we were so close to a whole d-decade and now this happens! We’re outnumbered and weakened!” Alicia didn’t manage to question the soldier before he had already stormed off to his own device.

She watched from her location the soldier dashing down the street as the echoing sound of his plated armor chimed and clanked all the way through the long street road down the district. Although she knew she should be weary of such thoughts, she couldn’t help but clearly feel the thick, strong air of what she could only describe as an audacious action calling for her. She felt herself now stronger then ever attracted to the one place no one else in their right mind would want to find themselves.
