A prayer poem
God, I have some things I’m asking,
God, I have some things I need,
God, you open up a knocked on door,
You give to those who plead,
God, you know my every question,
God, you answer prayers unasked,
God, you teach me many lessons,
And you show me silent tasks,
But there’s something really missing,
God there’s something so not there,
A consistent heavy hissing,
Tells me with you I must share,
My desire to hear you speaking,
My willingness for flight,
Intensity with which I’m seeking,
To feel your presence day and night,
And so I’m asking, Godly father,
That you throw me to the air,
That you give me guiding feathers,
Feel the wind run through my hair,
Help me see the world from higher,
Help me see how small I am,
That you fuel my living fire,
That you hold me in your palm,
I pray I see the people crying,
Pray I hear their silent pleas,
Pray you help me save the dying
Souls, I fall upon my knees,
And, God, I see that I’m so small,
Yet you love me endlessly,
And you’ll never let me fall,
While I’m drifting weightlessly,
But I want to dive and swoop, Lord,
I want to reach to those who hurt,
Want to tumble recklessly, Lord,
I want to fall down in the dirt,
So that I can spread your word, Lord,
Reach to those who are in pain,
Put my own hurts very last, Lord,
I want to scream and shout your name,
God I have these things I’m asking,
Make me brave and so alert,
Oh great father, ever lasting,
Father I don’t care what hurts.
