In “Blame Yourself” I discussed the behavioral patterns when we are sad where I told that we blatantly blame others without analyzing our mistakes for our sadness. As we know every coin has two sides and sadness is not an exception its other side is Happiness. When things don’t go according to our wishes we are sad, similarly, when things go as per our thoughts and wishes, we are happy. So, Let me discuss about happiness now.
Being sad, we blame others and similarly being happy we appreciate others. But we never try probing for the responsible person or thing behind our happiness or sadness. Many people think that we always appreciate ourselves when our actions fetch us happiness. But if we give a second thought to it I am sure that we will diagnose the truth. I think I am making the things complex. Okay, let me clear it out that whenever we are happy we appreciate others. First I want to give some examples which lead me to give a thought to this issue.
Whenever my friends got good marks in School/College they always appreciated teachers/professors. The verses were “this professor is cool; it is easy to score in his paper”. When they cleared some campus interviews they appreciated their luck or their respective God, they would say ‘Thank you, God, Thank you’. Based on what I have seen and analyzed I am bound to say that we keep on appreciating our luck/ God for our happiness. I am not at all saying that we should not appreciate other persons or Luck or God nor I want to question about the existence of Luck/God.
As by blaming others we don’t solve our problems but make it more severe and keep on being sad, similarly by appreciating only others we couldn’t hold our happiness for long. Happiness will persist only when we appreciate ourselves for it.
Actually, we don’t want to take the responsibility whether it is for our sadness or happiness and thus we keep on blaming and appreciating others. Once we learn to blame and appreciate ourselves we come to know the cause of our sadness and happiness and work on overthrowing our sadness and holding our happiness. But first we need to know that whatever is happening to us it is just because of us, we are the only cause for our sadness or happiness.
We can realize our mistakes only when we blame ourselves and our true abilities only when we appreciate ourselves.
