Another song off of my upcoming second album, about one of the places that I grew up. |
autumn leaves fall like shooting stars from overhead frost bites hard as i dream of childhood days well spent silhouettes survive behind those weathered walls i once called home of loved ones who've changed but in certain ways still remain the same with this sweet illusion of time i pack the puzzle pieces all away as i think back on cards that then were played the first act of my life in this charade on these steps of mortal age oak island where my memories grew days of laughter echoed in my youth these are the times that i once knew oak island where old friends were made memories sculpt a dormant grotto... residing in my mind now the passing wind caresses chimney stacks as it billows away with gilded puffs of black leaves of dew and leaves of green leaves of gray and branches clean acorns replace the late summer breeze another year, another ring, preserved within these trees street lights flicker with a vengeance at dark battling a silent war with the light from the stars oak island will always hold a place in my heart oak island where my memories grew days of laughter echoed in my youth these are the times that i once knew |
