This is a little comic take on the most common ailment--Common Cold |
Of all the guests who are called He's The rudest of them all Erratic, assumptive and very rude He comes to dine under our roof Uninvited he barges in Takes all by surprise Claims to be a kin Yes,he names himself Common Cold An ancient nuisance-very old And when it's done crusty old grandmothers Fret like birds;fluffing angry feathers Concocting potions that taste so vile They'll summon up the dreaded bile But the runny nose will take time to stop For this is not the best he's got Wheezing coughs rattle lovely Beth Grandpa works up his scrawny neck Thick gobbets of phlegm go down the drain His eyes are bloodshot from all the strain Aha ! but for Cold it's news so sweet Something akin to a bird's tweet He claps his hands Throws a dime Dances a jig to the rhyme Merry;he makes;out by the lake We're sick of his presence;quite literally But he wouldn't leave us peacefully Teary eyed someone sneezes Here and there it's everywhere His malicious intent;hard to bear His plans in motion The horror is realized His bags are packed in a breathy flight And so,he sets on winds so cold They'll freeze your teeth and numb your toes Across continents, countries and farms New households and people to harm Noses to jam like logged water pipes Keep the sweater on-the scarf's too tight. |
