Noisy Silence

I hear nothing
when people talk
and when they don’t
I feel them walk.

In silence
I hear the world
I hear her groaning
wishing peace
I hear her moaning
wishing quiet

In silent noise, I hear it called
from all the voices
old or small

Protect my family
keep me safe
help me earn
that last good grade

I know you know
how I feel
so can you help me to heal?

But in the end,
no one answers
and loved ones die
of evil cancers.
The grade is shot
you won’t heal.
