Winner of 'Horse on a beach' visual prompt.27/1/11
The black stallion cantered back along the beach. She feeling the freedom of his moments, picked up a handful of sand and let it run through her young, delicate fingers. "More stars in the universe than grains of sand on every beach in this world," she whispered. "Each grain different from the rest." Laine stared, absorbed by the thousand grains seeping through her knuckles, to join the rest of the sand at her feet.

The horse demanded attention now, stamping his foot at hers. Still in her trance she pulled her self up by his mane on to the strong solid black back. They rode as one in the rhythm of the wind.

At that moment all the vibrations resonated with an ancient part in her brain. 'Buzzzzzz...' her brain started hitting the sides of her skull rapidly, vibrating so fast that she was out of her own control. She grasped at the horse, no longer there. Her tight scared eyes opened to reveal space. She was in the middle of space surrounded by the light of the stars. Sudden peace fell upon her mind.

Laine realized she would never again be a girl on a beach. Her light reaching out in to the darkness, toward the rest of the chosen souls.
