This poem was named HOMESICK. I changed the title and the poem has been revised

Memories

With the fire in the hearth:
and the cold wintery night as her only companion,
she grabs the old and torn family album.
The pages are worn and yellowing with age.
Funny, she thought
how these wrinkled old pages
mimicked the lines on her face.

She opens the cover oh so carefully,
as not to tear the only proof she has of her memories.
Lovingly touching the pages of her past..
the birthdays, picnics, and barbeques...
the seemingly endless days at the beach,
that she knew now did not last.
The years had flown by
and now she was alone..
she never thought of  this day when she was young.

Now they were gone
and time had passed her by.
Loneliness had set in,
just as her willingness to die.
She smiled when she thought of her family..
the good times, and the bad ..
she thought of them all fondly.
She knew they were all together,
having a grand time in thier heavenly lair.
No cares, no worries, with lots of time to spare.
