An oasis for a desert heart.

Mirage

The words you spoke were beautiful.
The love you gave, devine.
The promises made, a dream come true.
Too bad they were just lies.

I thought our lives together would be forever,
our future ours to decide;
that our lives could not get any better,
but I was just so blind.

Every dream I wanted,
you said you would give to me.
I invited you in, only realizing too late,
that I hadn't seen the forest for the  trees.

Fools gold and pretty glass
are what you gave to me.
Pipedreams and magic beans
are what you sold to me.

But I guess I'm partly to blame.
I saw what I wanted to see.
Beautiful flowers, trees and grass -
an oasis too good to be believed.

However,the truth is the truth.
And now I see it was just a mirage.
I fell hook, line and sinker
for a heartbreaker in camouflage.
