Why was it so cold?
The big window, almost taking up an entire wall. Blinds drawn. Dim light trickled through enough to show a small, neatly made bed. The floor was empty, save for an old recliner stored in two pieces in the corner and a box. A box full of pictures attesting that this place was once warmed by life.
