Chronology of the unification of the world, one country at a time. |
Author's Note: This is in response to the recent outbreak of riots around the world. The earth may be uniting but.... Roar of the Rebel Yell By: Robert Kahil At the toll of Dawn's bell There is a terrifying screech. It is one strong man Screaming at the bricks. Nearby a light flickers; A dog barks in confusion As sunlight welcomes the rebel yell. Soon another man wakes And with fury punches fly. Blood spills from shattered jaws As a slew of crimson curses Spew from blubbering lips. No one wants to hear it, But more join the rebel yell. Thunderous cries of despair; A thousand for one demon's voice. Only one request from all around. Men in suits have no choice; Hear the ravaging crowd. "Listen all, it's time to change! We are one while you are none! For we have our limitless rebel yell!" Hours go by Under the scorching sun; Rioters rave like flies near shit. Behind shadowed windows The past lives on. A decision can not be bought. Why don't they just flip a coin? It's worked for years before. Heads or tails it does not matter; The rioters don't care. Just listen to their rebel yell. One day in, The entire world listens. Two days in Bring no change. Three days in: a decision is made! Talk among leaders; neither Progressive nor regressive. No side can be pleased. For more days to come, The world is forced to listen As all rioters flaunt the rebel yell. Anarchy ensues in unabashed terror as Anger glows in bloodshot eyes. Thousands of feet tremble When the ground echoes all. Wind flaps harsh wings Of bodies unwashed. Rivers flow into drains Riding piss and sewage. Nothing positive is rising from this rebel yell. Eventually all is settled. Even the men in suits Couldn't stand the grumble of tanks Or the tear gas Or the chants Or the screams Or the beatings Or the gunshots. Hell was walking the earth Under the reign of thousands Of demons and their rebel yell. Remember remember, Who they were. Carried by thousands and heard By billions. Listen closely, can you hear it? Can you smell it? Can you see it? Can you taste it? For on the air is The roar of the rebel yell. |
