This is the poem I sent for a competition in the GC-MUNLAU program! |
What's My Name? As days went by, I had to escape To run away and go back to a place Where life's image, in an old frame, Covered with dirt, dust and shame. There was no light to shine Nor a living soul to smile! I sat wondering for a while It was midnight and stars shone in the sky Alone in the misery, I walked And thought of everything as a lie. A lie twisted to be so true, Kindling the pity inside of you Wild whispers could be heard in the dark And a lost sweet voice that left a mark... There was nothing sweeter than his childish face, A young boy sitting in the darkest place I found him fighting his weakness Like a bird that has no wings With the only weapon he had left A small hope for something to eat... The surprise was not his poor young face But the scene of an angel in hell Like he's with misery in a race And a long story that he has to tell I came closer and was willing to speak But his words came faster and preceded mine "What's my name?” he dared ask! That's when I found a missing letter In the story of heaven And a missing color In the painting of life... So I told him, "Your name is a precious prayer"! That miserable boy was ignorant of the only thing That every person is supposed to know! I decided then to bow my head and pray: "Oh Lord! Take the wheel And take him to the place he has to go, This boy's life is in your hands right now Keep him near you, Where happiness is all that counts..." In the end, the boy didn't stay there I made sure to save and help him Just like another angel did to me Years ago, when he had to escape... |
