I once saw a land of lonely and mad
‘This is what happens to dreamers’ she said.
We walked hand in hand, my old guide and me,
disturbing image of sad agony.
We witnessed the crowds no number could count
unsure of words they spoke on our demand.
Together we were as helpless as one,
searching for answer that no one could find.
I then stopped frozen, in a morbid trance,
face to face with unearthly countenance,
and from my open mouth, so dry and numb,
fled this feeble, weakly and sad sound
‘Why has despair overcome your feeling?
Than dreaming there is nothing more thrilling.’
A wild, wicked smile crept onto his face
‘the heavier the dream the shorter the race’
My guide had left me alone in the crowds,
I started hearing this sound oh so laud!
Unable to wake, escape I could not,
‘This is what happens to dreamers’ I thought.
