The ending of part 1. |
So, I went to the table and waited for him to come. As I waited our waiter came over with some wine and poured us two glasses. I sipped on it, continuing to wait for Alex to finish talking. Finally, he came over and sat down across from me. He reached out and took my hand. "Our dinner shall be here soon, m'lady." I looked at him questionably, because we hadn't ordered anything yet. "Don't worry about it! I called our meal up ahead of time, so it would be ready by the time we got settled in," he paused and looked over my right shoulder and continued by saying, "In fact, here it comes now." I turned around and sure enough there was our waiter coming with our food. It was cooked just the way we both liked it. I always get the grilled chicken fettuccine and Alex always got a Pasta con Broccoli. We ate in silence, until Alex broke it by saying," You know? This reminds me of when we were freshman and we passed that note back and forth to each other in chemistry that first day of school. I don't know exactly why this night reminds me of that day, but it sure does." "I know exactly what you mean. Aren't you glad that I brought that topic up, that day though?" "Yes, I actually am. I am also glad that I agreed to it." After we were done, Alex seemed to give our waiter a sign, which I thought meant we were done and wanted our check, but I was wrong. The waiter brought out a platter that had a lid on it. He looked at Alex and Alex just nodded his head. So, the waiter turned to me and faced the plate in my direction. He then took the lid off of the plate, and on the plate there was a big piece of chocolate cake, my favorite, and in the middle of it, in icing, it said, 'Will you marry me?' After he knew I saw it, the waiter placed it in front of me and then left. "Oh. My. Gosh," I said and looked up at Alex and when I did, he got up and came to my side, pulled out a box and kneeled on one knee. He opened up the box and inside there was a diamond ring. "Yes!" I said. Tears started coming down my face when Alex pulled out the ring, to put on my finger. After he put it on, he looked up at me and took my chin in his hand and kissed me very lightly on the lips and whispered, " I love you." I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back and said, " I love you, too." He stood up and pulled me up with him and we kissed again, and this time the people that were seated around us, started to clap. He picked me up and carried me out of the restaurant, with everyone clapping by the time we were at the front door. And on the way out the door, I snuggled my head underneath his chin and said, "See? We were meant to be together and we always will be." |
