memories to keep

The changing colors of the leaves
the first snow glistening in the moonlight
children playing so carefree
watching the birds in flight

flowers blooming in the spring
watching the storms roll in
looking up at the stars
wondering when time began

watching the sunrise, the sunset
and the roaming wild horses
relaxing under the clouds
contemplating unseen forces

driving down a winding road
not sure of where i am going
just enjoying the scenery
and the mystery in the not knowing

a cool drink on a hot summer day
a hug when I'm feeling low
intelligent conversation and deep thoughts
watching the river flow

listening to the leaves
blowing gently in the breeze
the aroma of baked treats
and barbecuing meats
a hot bath and some herbal tea
a light caress so soft and silky
singing, dancing and just having fun
having a good laugh without hurting anyone

these are some of the memories I like to keep
as I try to let go of the ones that make me weep
