A Roundelay poem about a woman who falls for a man but the relationship suddenly changes. |
She saw charm. He saw beauty. Together, hearts united, they seemed so free. She believed the feeling was more than lust. She counted him worthy of her trust. Feeling like she was in the sky, Never looking at another guy, She had all and never fussed. She counted him worthy of her trust. To her, he could never falter. Instead, she worship him as if upon an altar. She believed he was made of diamond dust. She counted him worthy of her trust. The first argument she did endure, She maintained her composure. When things were about to bust, She counted him worthy of her trust. A new side of him, She saw him not so prim, When with his fist, he forcefully did thrust. She counted him worthy of her trust. He lost all charm. When he used his arm And his mouth he cussed. She counted him worthy of her trust. She felt betrayed and lied to, As she cried, her face black and blue. Her heart swelled with disgust. She counted him worthy of her trust. She would leave him Before she lost a limb. Leaving what they had behind to rust. She counted him worthy of her trust.
