HERA’S GARDEN Old Zeus has been at it again. Frolicking in the hedge maze with the three muses. Those tarts never inspired men to do much more than drop their pants. Last full moon she caught him up to the hilt in Aphrodite. The slut of Athens. The whore of Olympia. She’s always opens for business. This time Hera’s had enough of turning a blind eye to his exploits. She won’t keep pretending it doesn’t break her heart when he cheats on her all the time. At night when he snores in bed beside her she sneaks out to her garden taking her chalice and a bottle of Poseidon’s Sea Brew. She wanders among her beloved flowers, drinks herself into oblivion while plotting the demise of her philandering husband. How should she punish him? Banish him to Tartarus for the Titans to snap in half? Drop him into Styx for the souls of the damned to feed on? Lock him in a room with Medusa and smash him up when he’s stone? Let the Sirens shriek until he explodes? Feed him to the Kraken? Let a Cyclops tear him limb from limb? Lock him in a cage with Cerberus? One day his end will come, and he’ll pay for every sin…. |
