Why do people come and go


You came into my life out of thin air
one minute nothing, the next she was there

I remember in the past I told all the others that I didn't want to know
I don't want people to come to me if in the end they will just leave and go

I was fine by myself, just me and the empty glass
but then you walked into that bar and put your hand on my lap

You spoke to me of your past
you made me feel something at last

I thought for once I'd found something good
I thought for once somebody finally understood

You came to see me the next day that passed
we walked through beaches and sat down next to each other on soft grass

You told me you wanted to see me again
you spoke to me of trips together even through thunder and rains

for once I felt you where going to be mine
for once I felt it was finally my time

but then like day to night you where gone
and I'm left alone again
walking the empty streets watching the rain disappear down the drains

Why make promises you can never keep
why bother me if in the end you will just forget about me and drift off into a tender sleep

Please keep away if you don't wish to stay
don't give me special days that I'll only regret and wish away
