I mourn the passing of a friend, an unflown pilot.
Fallen wings will yearn to fly
And rusted metals shine
Streams of blood will wash away
The life of a friend of mine

A chat of daily work and sweat
Will never voice aloud
We sat and laughed as days crept by
Two friends who watched the clouds

The clock shall ne'er strike noon again
Across the pale, cold face
A friend who's wings fell tragically
To rest in death's embrace.

Falling rain will blind the man
I laughed and learned with oft
Till lights grew bright among the storm
And life then ended soft

I mourn with blinding rage and pain
The passing of a friend
My family watch me silently
My patience at an end

I burn to look into the sky
And see his wings aloft
I work to see his dream come true
The friend I laughed with oft.

**I wrote this after my friend, whom I will not name here, was killed by an oncoming truck while walking in the rain. He always wanted to be a pilot, so that has been part of the reason I will soon join the U.S. Air Force; to help realize his dream for him...**
