Struggles bring freedoms sometimes.
"A Comforting Reminder "

Red arrow shot to my future self, hunched over keyboard,
glistening hair in sunlight, note underneath
The bamboo length, reading “You can swallow hardship so big,
like gunshots and wounds like thorns
And rocks pounding on your chest”.  Crawl underneath an oval arc
that brands me with hot fire.
Caves oozing wet gushy lime from the ceiling, leaning, bushy and
about to fall down.  I push ahead my elbows,
Sticking in the water, against the sharp edges of rocks.  The ceiling
compresses my chest so I crawl.  My
Tears blend with the brown murky water.  I thrash my arms about the water.
The water becomes a whirlpool, , twisting, sucking me under like a vacuum
gone mad.  I gurgle, bubbles fish hopeless nothing else matters.
My hope on just a string a hinge my legs go up like a log surfacing.
I don’t know which way is up
Or down.  There is a rift under my body lifting me up.
There is a piece
of blue up there.
Green blades of grass, clear, crystal clear waters with
yellow oval fish.  Bright yellow sun, rays
Clear and shining bright over the clear blue sky.  How could
I have ended up here from there!
It was my struggle that freed me.  And it just might happen
again.  And every time, I have to remember:
There’s a paradise waiting on the other side.
