Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. |
Sticks and Stones by M. Harris I was taught a jingle that you seldom hear today. Few people understand, so I’ll explain it my way. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” A psychiatrist will tell you, words can hurt and they can hurt very much. Probably the reason why this jingle has been lost in time, But the truth is “words will never hurt you.” In God’s word He tells you, if He is for you, who can be against you? Neither are we to take offense, nor are we to offend. Truly words cannot hurt you, because when Christ is for you, Who can be against you? Too many people get their feelings hurt, because of something someone said. Just forgive that person, for what they said, and pray for them. Only worry about displeasing God and keep your thoughts on Him. Let love pour from your mouth, And let God guide the heart – and words will never hurt you. Man has never known what is good for man, And that is one of the reasons we need God. God said, “I am God and I do not change.” He is not wishy, washy like we are. Jesus asked this question, a long time ago. “What can it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?” Jesus controls the destiny of my soul for all eternity. My sleep is peaceful; my days are full of joy and my future is full of optimism. Our forefathers knew LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS And they knew it comes from Godly living and the knowledge of God’s word. Who is free indeed? The one that God sets free. Who is life indeed? The only One who can give life. Who is happy indeed: Proverbs 16:20, “He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, HAPPY IS HE.” The Bible tells us how to live and that we reap what we sow. Examine today the life you live for it sets tomorrow in a row. Word count: 344 |
