A Silly Poem
It’s Raining And I Have Forgotten My Towel

It’s raining and I have forgotten my towel, a silly thing to do
I did had one with me – It’s the blue one I keep in the loo
But like idiot I forgot it, which is the point of this unhappy tale
It’s what happens to a person when he become a forgetful male

The towel was in my car, on the edge of a shady wood,
where I went for a long walk, as I sometimes would.
And after walking for several miles I found it was getting quite dark
And thought there might be a storm coming and that it would be no lark

So when it started raining, I took shelter in the ‘Two Horse Shoes’
Hoping to get out of the wet and enjoy a drink, or two
And thinking I might partake in a spot of lunch and make use of their loo
I also hoped to empty the water out of my leaking shoe

And so I bought a pint of ‘Old Mould’ and sat down on a seat
But found the landlord didn’t like it when water dripped onto his feet
He told me politely I should dry off or something that sounded the same
But as I didn’t have my towel with me, I had to go back out into the rain

If I only had the towel with me I could have stayed and dried my hair
I could have remained dry inside with my pint and enjoyed the delicious fare
But know I feel like an idiot, very wet and in a state of total disgrace
Trudging through the woods squelching mud with rain falling upon my face

And when I reached my car, I found I had also forgotten to close the roof
Allowing the rain to get in and soak everything and that is the total truth
I when I opened the door, water within flowed onto my damp feet
And I saw that my towel was also wet, as was that as of my cloth car seat

So readers, the morel of this story is, never to forget your towel
To always to keep it with you and therefore never to run foul
Of uncaring landlords and the laughter of sniggering creeps
Or to tramp through a muddy wood and suffer shoes that leak

And never ever, ever forget your towel!
