Ancestor

Image for a poem I wrote.

He lived his life in dearth of proper stimulation.

His countenance wizened, beset with crags and nodules.

Relegated to a maudlin life of pensive longings,

To requite our curiosity,

Undulating constantly, as many institutionalized beings do.

In the wild, he would not have survived.

Yet in sordid captivity, he died.
