The monotonous bass line
Of the music next door
Pummels my walls, engulfs my apartment,
Each note drilling holes
Into my head.
Its steady rhythm, never changing,
Urges fragmented thoughts
To hasten their tempo
Hypnotizing thuds, consistently droning
Prompt my mind
To race ever faster.
Neurons firing, frenzied synapses,
A maddening crescendo
Of images and words
Onwardly rushing, aiding dire delusions,
(Goodbye pointless patterns)
(Farewell constant cadence)
Jolted by silence, composure returns
I see four crescent moons
On both of my palms.
