A love story that turns tragic. Also the loss of a First Responder.
He walked into my life, unexpected, that day.
My heart skipped a beat, usually happens that way.
His eyes were as blue, as the ocean at rest.
His smile was so wide; I knew it must be the best!

He kept coming back, for just a moment or two.
He was as shy as I was...I wondered what do we do?
His coffee in hand, he'd stand back and watch,
As my customers passed...sent my heart up a notch!

He was tall, slim and handsome, in the uniform he wore.
His hair slightly silver, thrilled my soul to the core!
What kept bringing him here?  I just couldn't imagine!
Could it be me?  Was his heart full of passion?

And finally one day, we spoke, laughed and smiled.
Days turned to months...we were simply beguiled!
Months turned into years, and our love, how it grew!
And then came the day...that fear and I knew.

He was sent on a call...domestic violence involved.
Lovers gone bad, why did he get the run?
He went straight to the door, to protect and defend,
And there came the end...of my loving friend.

My husband he was...till death we did part.
My husband he is...he still lives in my heart.
How much I did love him,,,and I was so proud!
Of my lover in uniform...easily seen in a crowd.
