Ethoncentrism-Thinking that we,as Americans, are better than the tradedies that surround us
Sometimes I wish that ethnocentrism didn’t exist.

Because maybe then our egos would dismiss

The size of her waistline and the lack there of on his hair line,

And we wouldn’t judge the amount of heart

that’s crammed away by the plastic surgeons’ scar lines.

I wish we could vote for our president with our eyes closed and

With a crystal ball that shows

the views in the future of his actual promise of a change

And not the luxury of our tax money’s imported red wine

that’s fading away into his lies of the campaign.

We are no better than the Muslims in Iran or

The women of Darfur who can’t run away from the men that can

And will, no matter what, have their way,

Oh, but we won’t dare stand up to the day

Instead we hide and coward in the cracks with the shadows at night.

we are a country built tough,

unlike the prophet increase on ford.

Who can afford a gallon of gas?

And the protection of a mask,

From all the dieases out there that cause and effect

Our youth to grow up and destroy what is left

Of the world that our mama gave us, or took away.

Either way, I’m trying to make a point to say

Where we choose to make our path someday,

In this world will tell us who we are not today

But who we will become at a future layaway.

I wish, you could see how beautiful my words are to me

And how there’s something special about you

That I missed out on when we teased and prodded

Who you were meant to be.

That brand is there for as long as you let it stay,

Stand up and press a new scalding iron

On your skin that will permanently say…

I will make a change

somehow, someway.
