Setting #2

Daniel and Sandy took Amber to the brand new school, where they were going to attend. Amber watched as people and creatures communicated with one another and walked up and down the old brick paths. She saw with wonder how every building was either a tree or rock in disguise. They said it was to honor the forest and bring peace and joy for the tourists that come to see the forest. Wind provided the electricity need to run the homes and make them cozy. The air breathed of water, but only as humidity. She thought of the ocean as she breathed. Why did it remind her of the ocean so much?

“Welcome to the Leafy Elementary School,” an elder woman announced, bending over and giving Amber a pat on the head.

“Why is everything so foresty?” Amber asked.

“Well we live and thrive in the forest. This town was created by the forest inhibitors who knew what was best. This part of the land is desolate and needs more towns and cities in my opinion. At least we can all get along well and the trees protect us from the weather in many forms.”

“Wow!” Amber looked at the tall tree buildings and thought of Kelp beds. She had been studying the ocean since it fascinated her. Her parents would not say where she was born though- except that once she finds the hospital she was born in she would know.
