Learn to love,
because sometimes, it just doesn’t come naturally

and see the needs of others
Learn to love your hands
because even calloused and worn,
they can be instruments of beautiful works

because even if they are rough and strange
they can run swiftly to carry good news
and protect your loved ones
Learn to love your smile
because even the most crooked teeth can say “I love you”
and unwittingly light up the loneliest heart
Learn to love your ears
because they allow you to listen to others
and give the hope that comes from hearing truth
Learn to love the unlovables,
because they need it more than anyone
and once you master this, you’ll love everyone
Learn to love vulnerably, at the risk of loss and hurt
because that is the only way to be free,
and there are always others reaching out on invisible limbs
to love you right back
Learn to love patiently, peacefully, unconditionally
Learn to love yourself,
because someone has always loved you.
