A Candle Lit in the Dark

A single candle lit,
To rid the dark,
From this place.

A shadow taunts,
A shadow teases,
And never gives up space.

A shimmer of gold,
A smear of black,
Hauntings in the dark.

A whisper from the night,
A call from the light,
Temptations in the dark.

O how cruel,
The illusions a candle lit,
Can play,
Merely to rid the dark,
From this place.
