Lola's is adjusting to getting a whole new life. Can she live without them?
"You are not my mom! I don't care about what you say! Leave me alone!" I shouted at her. I ran to my room, slammed the door, and locked it. I threw myself on my bed and started sobbing." I turned off my light and got under the covers, hoping to go to sleep. I didn't care how long I slept for, I kind of even wanted to sleep forever. I mean, why should I get the chance to wake up and experience life? I'm a terrible person. I mean, there are so many people who actually deserve it and here I am contemplating leaving it all. Do I even deserve to wake up? Doesn't anybody know what I just said to her. She is such a great person and here I am insulting her when all she's done is care for me and step in to make my life better. I am so ungrateful. And the thoughts kept coming, racing through my head with unbelievable haste. My eyes got heavy and I finally fell asleep. When I woke up it was dark outside, so I looked at the clock. It was six in the morning. I had slept through the night, nearly twelve whole hours. I woke up to go get breakfast, they weren't home. Shocker. It was not even nine o'clock on a Saturday, and my 'parents' were already gone off to work or some benefit or something. It only fits, I mean, what else do rich people do?
I ate a bowl of cereal and went and changed into some running clothes. It was a nice brisk morning outside, the air was nice and fresh. As I passed by a playground, memories flooded my mind. My heart was pumping so hard I could barely breathe, but I had to keep running. I had to get as far away from that stupid park as possible. I just had to. I kept my head straight while I ran the rest of my two-mile route. When I got home, I decided to take a shower. I picked out some sweatpants, a sports bra, a work-out tank top, and a fun pair of socks. I walked into the bathroom and turned the water on. I spent a good half hour in the bathroom, taking good care to wash my face gently, brush my teeth completely, and dry my hair. I changed and decided I still had some energy to workout. But no running, I just ran two miles.Who knows what I might stumble across? I went downstairs to their workout room, because yes, all rich people have workout rooms in their houses. It's like they don't know about this thing called A GYM! Anyway, I found a heavy bag there. "This could definitely work." I thought. I plugged my ipod into the stereo and turned it up. I wrapped my hands and started letting out all my frustration out on it. It wasn't long before my hands were hurting and I felt like they must have been bleeding. I had an urge to go over and try punching out the windows or the walls, but I decided against it. Several songs had gone by and I took a break. I paused the music and went to the kitchen to get some water.

I heard the doorbell ring, and without thinking I went to get it. When I opened it, I was shocked. It was Jett, from down the street.
"Umm, hey Cole. Can I help you?" The ease with which he was standing at my doorstep was a little bit unnerving.

"Hey Lola, I just came by to say, umm, say I'm sorry about what happened at school yesterday. I wish I'd have actually done something to help. I mean, I really feel pretty terrible about it. About not speaking up. Don't listen to anything any of them say. They're all just stupid and pathetic. I'm sorry I did nothing." He seemed a little bit distracted. It was weird. Not only that Cole, Cole for goodness sake was at my doorstep at 7am, but that he was talking to me. And being nice.

"Oh, gee, thanks. Don't feel bad, I barely even noticed what they were saying," I lied through my teeth to make him feel better. "But I really appreciate you coming here to say that, it umm, means a lot to me. What are you doing up so early? You know, it's only 7 and it's Saturday."

"Haha, yeah I know. I'm always up pretty early, I kind of have this routine that I go through. It's weird, I'll tell you about it sometime. But I should be asking you the same thing, looks like you've been up for a while."

"Yeah, I fell asleep pretty early last night, I woke up at six. I went for a run then came home to work out."

"Yeah, you pretending that punching bag's Lily?" He asked, half joking. Lily was the girl with whom I had a 'run in' yesterday at school.

"Man, if it was Lily, it'd be broken in half." I said, attempting a little laugh afterwards. Gee, awkward silence. Or maybe it was awkward because only I seemed to notice it. "Do you wanna come in or something? There's lots of food, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you had some breakfast." I asked, trying to make up for it.

"Oh, no, but thanks. I actually have to go find someone. I just wanted to come over and apologize."

"Well, thanks. I guess I'll see you later then."

"Yeah, see ya. Have a good day, Lola." And with that, he walked off. I waited until he was down the sidewalk and then I shut the door. I didn't much feel like working out anymore, so I went up to my room to pick it up. Cole was some guy. He wasn't amazingly popular, or extremely athletic, or even a genius, not that I knew anyway. He wasn't that talkative, but rather quite taciturn. He was in a few of my classes this year, junior year. He was about 5'9, and had dark brown, shaggy hair. He was well-dressed, but kind of like a jock. He wasn't loaded, but he wasn't exactly saving pennies either. As I passed into my room, I stood in front of the full length mirror for a second. I stood there and thought about what Cole must have just seen. I didn't even think of it at the time, but I'm in workout clothes. I guess I don't look that bad, though. Just comfy and relaxed. I have long red hair with a blue streak in the front that was currently up in a pony-tail. I'm in a black sports bra & gray sweatpants. I have hand wraps on and it looks like I am going to try to beat someone up. I guess it's not too bad, though.
