... Cutting through what seemed to be good intentions
=/= A showdown was taking place in Dallas. A piece of Angel’s life that she’d left behind just over a year ago had made their way to her doorstep and was now staring her in the face. It was amazing how Becky had changed in a year.
Becky was Angel’s 14 year old ‘protégé’ as such, having met on one of Angel’s school visits they’d grown close to the point where they were the only family each other had. Becky had travelled the road with Angel during the end days of her CWF stint, Becky learning all she could from her idol and friend as she become a competitor herself.
Until Angel vanished.
Not so much as a goodbye or a reason. Just nothing.
Now Becky stood on her doorstep, staring a hole straight through her- each conveying all their emotions through silence as they daren’t say a word. Angel couldn’t help but admire how she’d grown in her absence, how Becky had flourished into such a young woman, she was 15 now. The same age Angel was when she had her first ‘professional’ match.
It was Angel who dared speak first... =/=

Angel: Becky I-

Becky: I don’t want to talk out here.

=/= It was almost unnerving how Becky had cut straight through Angel, it was apparent this would be all business. Angel slipped by her and unlocked the building door, knowing full well that Becky would follow- Angel led Becky to her new apartment feeling as though she was basically giving her a map on how to find her again. That didn’t seem to matter now though. Becky had already managed to track her down once; surely it wouldn’t be hard to do so again. Angel invited Becky to take a seat on the couch in her apartment, like a peace sign almost- offering the only available seat to a potentially hostile visitor. Becky took a seat wordlessly before staring another hole through Angel as she sat down on the coffee table across from her seemingly former ‘protégé’. =/=

Angel: So... How are you?

=/= Becky looks at her, eyes focused squarely on Angel’s- then something unexpected happens, Becky’s face breaks into a smile and then a soft laugh as she shakes her head. =/=

Angel: ... Is there a joke I’m missing?

Becky: Really?

Angel: Really what...

Becky: You disappear into thin air for over a year and the only thing you can come up with is ‘how are you?’... Are you fucking serious?

=/= Angel didn’t know what to say, she could tell this had been building for so long and now it was about to be let loose- it wasn’t about prevention now but minimising the damage. =/=

Angel: Well what am I supposed to say?

Becky: How about a reason or a sincere truth for once, now that would be a change...

Angel: Sincere truth? Not once have I lied to you! You want a reason? I don’t have one; I can sit here all day and tell you how wrong I was to leave and how I wish I could have taken you with me but you know what? Then, then I would be lying to you...

Becky: How can you no have a reason? You upped and left without a word- we were meant to be family Amber! Remember? There was a time when we were the only things each other had outside of wrestling...

Angel: Of course I remember-

Becky: ... Then why didn’t that matter!

=/= Angel found herself speechless for a minute, all the things she wanted to say had vanished from her head like wisps of smoke after that comment. How could Becky believe that?
Angel found herself staring at the floor as she tried to find the right words to say, or even any words to say but the words just weren’t coming. Instead Becky found something to say before Angel could even respond =/=

Becky: Didn’t think you’d have anything to say, just keep staring at me like that...

=/= Angel did just that, she sought the words to try and make everything better. Make it all normal, or at least close to what normal could possibly be. =/=

Becky: ... SAY SOMETHING!
Angel: What do you want Becky? I’m not gonna sit here and tell you a story to try and make you feel better- I left cause I needed to and I didn’t wanna drag you through more of my hell than I already had. I put you through enough...

Becky: If I thought it was too much I never would have stayed..
Angel: ... You would never have known what was too much!

Becky: How would you know? You don’t know what I think-

Angel: Really? Shit, it’s not like I’ve been there before Becky- I was just like you once...

Becky: But you’re not like me now... I remember when it was us against the world; you were my family and now? Now I don’t even know you...

Angel: I’m still the same person

Becky: No you’re not! The Angel I know would never have left, would never have walked away from anything no matter how impossible it seemed, would never have given up-

Angel: I didn’t just give up

Becky: You gave up and you ran away... That’s not the Angel that I knew.

=/= The words stung cause Angel knew there was possibly an ounce of truth behind it, had she really changed, had some form of cowardice snuck into her heart. How could Becky believe it was cowardice to disappear, it was the right decision... Wasn’t it? =/=

Becky: Lets face it, you’re not Angel anymore... You’re just human.

=/= Angel sat by stunned at the harsh words, she struggled to understand where Becky had drawn all this hostility from- had Angel’s disappearance really affected her that much or perhaps it was teenage emotion in overdrive, harsh spur of the moment venom being spewed forth only to be taken back later.
Becky rose from her seat silently and disappeared out the front door without looking back, the door slamming broke Angel from her thoughts and bringing her back to reality.
Had she become a mere mortal in a world of the super human? Had the monster retired back into the depths of her mind? Was she really just human... =/=
