A chilling poem about innocence lost, violence, and the horror of a fatal encounter.

Little Annie went for a walk, because her life was a bore.
See, Little Annie needed an escape from her mother—who was a whore.

She wandered along the beach that night, trying to drift far away.
The only problem was, she didn’t know she’d die that day.

A car pulled up beside her, and the driver said, “Hop in.”
Oh, Little Annie should have known— this man was full of sin.

Little Annie climbed inside, and the man fondled her chest.
Oh, Little Annie should have known— his mind was far from rest.

He parked the car and locked the doors, then began to undo her cape.
Oh, Little Annie should have known— this night would end in rape.

She kicked and screamed, begged him to stop, but he was heavier than a boat.
He did whatever pleased him, then slit her fragile throat.
