“This is Jennifer Greyson reporting with WXYL TV News on Channel 9. We’ve just received breaking news: there’s been a report of…sort of calamity at North Salem Senior High School. Details are sketchy at the moment, but police are en route to the scene. For WXYL TV, this Jennifer Greyson.”

“…but news is breaking out of Salem’s North End. Police are on the scene, and according to preliminary reports, there’s smoke, fire, and chaos. No one yet seems to know what exactly is going on, but we are beginning to hear stories of dead bodies. We don’t know yet if those bodies are students or teachers, but we do know ambulances and fire trucks are on the way. Again, a chaotic scene there at North Salem Senior High School with reports of human casualties. For WXYL TV, this Jennifer Greyson.”

“…Greyson reporting live about a mile and a half from the campus of North Salem Senior High School. As you can see, there’s SWAT behind us, and chaos is everywhere. As for the dead bodies…be forewarned, what we’re hearing is very graphic in detail…I’m being told that it’s ugly out there: there are arms and legs on the campus lawn, and shockingly, I’m told—again, we have yet to confirm these stories—a disembodied head. Again, these rumors have yet to be confirmed. This is Jennifer…”

“…Greyson here. I’ve managed to outskirt the blockade and I’m here with my cameraman Jake. We’re entering the campus from the southside…oh my god! There’s an a-arm! Jesus, it looks like it was ripped right out of its socket! Oh my god, Jake, I think I’m going to be sick—“

“I’m here with two students, Allyce Robbins and George Sims. I found them hiding near the dumpster, fearing for the lives.
“Allyce, can you tell us what happened?”
“Uh, well, uh. It was…crazy. We had no idea she could do something like this—“
“You said she. Who is she? A student? What’s her name? What grade is she—“
“No, no. It’s not a student. It’s Ms. Weiss. S-s-she…oh, god! I can’t, I just can’t!”
“Okay, Allyce, you’re doing fine. Take a breath for a minute. George, what about you? Who is this Ms. Weiss?”
“S-she’s a h-history teacher...oh, god...”
“Okay, George, take it easy. What can you tell us about what happened”
“S-she was teaching, but the k-kids…were...being assholes as usual...and then…I don’t she just…she just…snapped..and then…”
“OH GOD, George! Don’t say it! Don’t even repeat it! I’ll go crazy, I’ll—“
“Hey, Allyce! Honey, calm down! You’re out of it now, and this is your chance to tell us what happened! People need to know! Parents are wondering about their own chil—“
“FUCK YOU, LADY! You weren’t there, so you don’t know!”
“Allyce is right, lady. Fuck you and your TV show. I’m getting out of here. NOW.”
“Hey, wait! You can’t leave! We’re in the middle of an intervi—“
“Hey, George, I’m with you! Wait for me!”
“Hey! Hold on—“

3:38 PM

“We’re reporting live inside the school building. It’s dangerous, but we wanted to be the first ones to get the full story to you. So far, we haven’t seen much…forgive me if I’m speaking too low, but we want to be careful...we’re in the main hallway, heading towards what appears to be the Commons area…lots of tables overturned…there’s food everywhere and…Jake, what is that? Is that blood? Jesus, it’s everywhere! What happen…what? Where? I don’t see—oh my god! Are those…students? They look like they’ve been ripped apart by…by wild animals! Oh, what? Oh, yes, I forgot! Okay, folks, as you can see—oh, shit! Jake, those are eyes over there? Piles and piles of eyes—oh my god! What was that? What was—AAARRGH—“

4:29 PM

“Ohhh, my head—“
“Oh, there she is. Our lovely reporter is awake.”
“Where am I?”
“You’re in my classroom. Welcome.”
“You’re Ms. Weiss.”
“Ohh, pretty and smart.”
“What’s wrong with your face?”
“Oh, these bruises? This black eye? Don’t worry, we’ll talk about that soon enough.”
“What?”
“Say hello to the world. We’re live!”
“The camera’s on?”
“Yep, and we’re broadcasting right now! Hello world!”
“You can’t do this! You let me go!”
“ ’Fraid I can’t do that.”
“ Why not? What do you want?”
“Why, I’m going to give you the story of a lifetime!”
“What?”
“Don’t you want to know what happened?”
“Well, yes of course, but…”
“So go!”
“Huh?”
“Go ahead, interview me!”
“Oh…uh, well, what happened here?”
“Well, I’m a new teacher, so they gave me that class of delinquents. A bunch of nineteen-year old freshmen, can you imagine? Down there in the basement, because you know, out of sight, out of mind, right? Who wants to deal with that? So I got them. But I was okay with that. But those…pigs thought that because I was young and pretty and new that they didn’t have to show me any respect. That they didn’t have to do anything I said.”
“Keep going.”
“They were being assholes yesterday, and I wrote them up. Except one of the biggest trouble makers, Jergen Yonstein, can’t get anymore write-ups. He’d get kicked out of school. So yesterday, he and a couple of his goon friends came to “talk” me out of the write-up. Except that their version of talking was to beat me up and then bend me over my desk and rape me.”
“My god…I’m sorry…”
“Oh, no need to apologize. I’ve taken care of things.”
“But…how did you cause all this destruction…?”
“No, no, not at all. The kids did.”
“What? How?”
“I cast a spell and turned them into the animals. They wanted to act like animals, so I turned them into animals. Welcome to education today.”
