Whiskey Tired I'm about as whiskey tired as a man can get without dying My face wears the ravages of a few thousand bottles Countless failures stare back at me in the mirror of her eyes Disappointments by the truckload have been hard on her I'm about as whiskey tired as a man can get without dying My children, mom and pop wondering what they can do As I stand hopeless wanting to fade from their view What a disappointment I have been to those who love me I’m about as whiskey tired as a man can get without dying Love was not enough; it could never be for a man like me Hard years of harder living have extracted a terrible price The years that I’ve wasted, the restless soul I’ve become I’m about as whiskey tired as a man can get without dying Chasing a phantom on a field of broken hearts and dreams A ghost called happiness that disappears in front of my eyes I lay on a bed dressed in dying clothes with no inner peace I'm about as whiskey tired as a man can get without dying My soul hurts with the emptiness of a few thousand bottles Shot full of holes from a million rounds through my muzzle Hopelessly lost throughout the decades of abuse and neglect I'm about as whiskey tired as a man can get without dying |
