The City Inside of Me

Poem about my port, inspired by a contest.

If you ever visit my port…
an open book is what you’ll see.
A map of some of my favorite places
and some that aren’t so friendly.
You will see where my heart has traveled
and where it has taken me;
to the Melting Pot, the Cottage of Lovey Dovey,
to places by the sea.
My Isle isn’t like the Emerald Isle
though at times it can be pretty,
but it’s the Isle of Broken hearts;
it’s a little sad there really.
My port also has a comedy show,
this place holds all my funnies.
But around the bend is the Land of Woe
I’ve spent too much time there…
                regretfully.
There are a few other places to visit,
come...sit and read.
Stop I hope you might..
to visit the places my heart has taken me.
If you ever visit my port...
yourself you might see.
Hopefully you will visit time and time again..
