This is about seeing what I noticed at a party. The misuse of drugs and alcohol. |
Just the other night, I was hit with a thought That the youth of today has to further be taught. The hope is not lost, there is still time for change, But if not done soon, there will be no exchange. I cant stand to see the kids of today Say they can’t make a difference, and become their dealer’s prey. They take a big dose of whatever is “in” And soon after forget they’re further from the win. I was told that night by one teenage boy That he doesn’t mind death and we are all just God’s toys He said there’s no purpose and then turns to the bottle, Which had replaced his love for skating full throttle. I couldn’t believe what this kid was saying. “There is no life, there is no praying.” He sees himself and his peers as a waste of space, Ready for the finish line, when there is really no race. The smell of the house reeked of beer and bud The air was so dense, an intoxicated flood. The players of the game could barely stand up, But still they would argue over who should drink that cup. It was of great interest to try to explain, That the completion of school is the first to obtain. They don’t have a plan, and they want to party too much. I wish that reality would help them to clutch. I am not quite grown-up, and I don’t know the world, But when I see the fragile minds of the younger being twirled All I want to do is extend some good knowledge Of what to expect if they even get to college. The parties are better, and the girls are much smarter. But without priorities the fire’s without a starter. I reached one kids mind, which was scattered like a jigsaw. I explained to him my ways and left him in awe. He told me that I might have just changed his life, After I pointed out the decisions that were causing him strife. He couldn’t really think because of the heat and the booze, But he said that tomorrow he’d be able to choose. It was just a party, I see, afterall. But it goes a lot deeper when they start hitting that wall. The wall that divides high school from life. The one that stabs their future with the sharpest knife. I am not perfect, and I continue to learn, But seeing their mind-sets was quite a concern. I hope I got through to a few of them there. Shape up now, because down the road life’s a lot less fair. |
