******

Eric was walking into the forest, alone and holding a note. "Meet me at the forest station from the first challenge. Strange." He had found it lying on his face when he woke up this morning and decided to follow it."Should be around here somewhere..." he tripped over a root and stumbled into the clearing at the forest station.

"He's here." Steve helped his up teammate from the ground. "It's about time to. We've been waiting here for half an hour."

When Eric had brushed himself off and fixed his glasses, he gasped. Besides Steve, there was Jane and Emily, who were standing by the flag pole. But wasn't them who he was surprised was there; it was Raj, Mona, Jessie, and Joe who shocked him. "Why are they here? Aren't they on the other team?"

"Well, they are," Steve explained. "We want to form a cross-team alliance that we hope will survive until the merge. You see, I think that we might have the most problems surviving in the competition, since everyone else is either is a strong player, is popular, or has some special talent."

"So why didn't you include Summer, Harley, Dylan, and Gabby?"

"Well... Gabby is annoying, Dylan is too much of a pessimist, and adding Harley and Summer would unbalance the two halves of the alliance. Anyway, are you in or not?"

"I'll join. So what do we do?"

"Well, we try voting on just one person per elimination so we don't get eliminated for sure. We really can't help the other half of our alliance until we hit the merge, so we're basically two separate alliances." Mona suggested.

'That's true... Oh well, at least we have an alliance. That's a start. See you guys at today's challenge."

******

"Yay! I'm in an alliance! Even though these things don't work often times, I have a feeling this one will!" Raj was brimming with joy and was about to leave when he tripped and smashed into the bathroom door.

******

"You feelin' better, bro?" Ty was asking Lee as they ate breakfast.

"Yeah. I feel bad for voting off Bella. She looked like she would've been a nice friend." Lee sighed a bit and stirred his oatmeal.

"It's okay. She would've been a pain later on, especially if we had a rock climbing challenge or something like that."

Just then, a red blur whizzed past Lee's head and bounced off of the wall. The campers who were in the mess hall all ducked, dodged, and weaved to avoid the speedy object.

"Hi guys! Sorry I'm la-" Raj was pegged in the face by the crimson object, stopping him in mid speech. He fell backwards onto the floor.

"What is this?" Aziz inquired as he picked up the round, rubbery object. "A dodge ball? What's this doing here?"

"Very good question." Rob was standing by the lunch line, holding another ball. "Today's challenge is a dodge ball tournament. Meet me at the outdoor gymnasium in the forest by ten." He marched out of the building, throwing the other ball at Alex, who dodged it.

"I'm okay, I'm oka-" Raj was silenced once again as the ball ricocheted back at the unlucky Indian.

******

"Raj is really unlucky," Jessie was looking rather unsure of herself. "Maybe he might rub off his bad luck on me... But it's okay, I can deal with any problems my boyfriend has!"

******

"Is it just me, or is Jessie hanging around me a lot?" Raj asked himself, his face red from the dodge balls.

******

All off the contestants were gathered in the modern, plexiglass-walled gym. It was in stark contrast to the bright natural greenery surrounding the camp the building. Rob was wearing a black and white striped tee shirt and Mrs. Rosenthal was wearing a cheerleading uniform.

"Contestants, welcome to the Camp Lakewood gym, specially built for this challenge. Hope you guys up for some rounds of dodge ball!"

"Nope." Kat shot Ryan a bored look. "Please explain the rules now."

The host huffed in irritation. "Fine then, Mrs. Dumps-a-lot. The goal of the game is to obviously dodge the balls. Each side has six players who will throw the ball at the other team. If you get hit, you are out. If you catch the ball, the person who threw it is out and you get to bring back one of your own team members. You can use the ball to deflect another ball and you won't be penalized for it unless it hits your fingers. The first team to win three games wins. Choose your players now!"

Jake spoke out to his team, "Okay. I'm playing, and so should Wes, Sheila, and Brandon. Does anyone else want to?"

"I will!" Joe stepped onto the court with the others.

"Might as well contribute in today's challenge." Kat stepped onto the court as well.

"Here's the plan. The rest of you stay out of the way while I peg away at the other team," Brandon declared somewhat arrogantly as Ty, Austin, EJ, Blaire, Alex, and Sydney stepped out onto the court. Rob, who was acting as the referee, blew his whistle, and the teens rushed off to grab the dodge balls that were lying in the middle of the court.

"Watch and learn guys," EJ declared as he grabbed four dodge balls and began to spin wildly, sending the balls out flying. The first one hit Brittney, another flew over everyone's heads towards the wall, and another hit Raj in the sidelines, The last one, however, hit Joe, sending him to the bleachers.

"At least you hit someone," Sydney snorted as she ducked from Kat's ball. The tomboy picked it up and nailed Wes in the face. "Score two for the Deer."

"Our team ain't gonna lose this easily!" Sheila yelled as she grabbed two balls and threw them, one hitting Austin and the other being caught by Ty, who pulled in Chelsea from the sidelines. Sheila stomped off huffily as Kat dodged Ty's dodge ball and threw one back at him, knocking the jock out.

"Hey EJ, watch this!" Brandon shouted as he picked up four dodge balls and simultaneously flung them, knocking out Blaire, Alex, Sydney, and EJ himself. "In your face, private!" Brandon bragged as the cadet walked off to the bleachers in shame.

"She won't survive," Dylan sullenly said from the sidelines. In triumph, the three Armadillos threw their balls at the girl, who was nervously clutching a dodge ball. Unintentionally, she deflected the balls back at their owners, knocking them all out.

"And the Deadly Deer have earned one point!" Ryan announced as the Deadly Deer cheered.

"Wow! I guess a bit of my amazing inner skills just came out!" Chelsea exclaimed in glee.

******

"Amazing inner skills my butt," Sydney said as she rolled her eyes.

******

"Rah rah sis boom bah. Go team go," Mrs. Rosenthal cheered with her dry, raspy, monotone voice.

"Okay then contestants, choose you next players!"

"I guess I'll go up," Steve cheerily said as he joined Emily, Jane, and Lee up on the court.

"I'm too pretty to have to do this. Brittney, go up there for me," Hailey instructed to the blonde, who smiled and nodded.

"You can't do that! You aren't her boss!" Aziz stated as Brittney got up and walked over to the others.

"I'm not. I'm her BFF, and we're doing this out of friendship. Right, Brittney?"

"Okay!" The girl grinned at Hailey.

"Anyway, why don't you go up there and show off your skills instead of whining about Brittney going up there like a good friend, Aziz?" Hailey told the boy.

The boy was about to respond when Rob blew the whistle and Aziz stomped onto the court, irked.

******

"No one bosses me around! Nobody!" Aziz exclaimed in the confessional. "The only people I am subject to are my elders and Allah, for I am and was school president for 12 years ever since kindergarten. I am that good."

******

On the other side of the court, Lily, Lizzy, Mona, Tristan, Harley, and Jake each had a dodge ball in hand, leaving the other team with none whatsoever.

"Oh g-g-g-gosh no!" Emily stuttered as Mona quickly aimed at the girl and threw it, knocking her out.

"Come on guys, we don't want to lose this challenge too," Aziz said as he picked up the ball that hit Emily and threw it at Harley, who got hit full force in the face.

"Guys, I have an idea," Jake whispered to his teammates. "Why don't we all throw our balls at one person at the same time?"

"That's a great idea!" Tristan said as they all threw their balls at Steve, who dodged almost all of them except for the last one. As he slumped off the court, Lee and Aziz picked up all of the dodge balls.

"Take this one," Lee offered to Jane.

"I can't. I don't like being violent, even in a game of dodge ball. I'll just catch the ball to get someone out," the girl replied.

Aziz just sighed and motioned to Lee and Brittney. "Let's aim for Jake on three, two one, GO!" The three deer threw their dodge balls, Aziz's and Lee's hitting their mark. "Where did Brittney's go?" Aziz wondered.

Lily and Lizzy picked up the two dodge balls that were thrown at Jake. "Where did it go?" the twins wondered out loud as Brittney's ball suddenly dropped from above like a kamikaze plane, ricocheting off of their dodge balls and flying back at the other team, hitting out Brittney.

"Now we know," Lee remarked as Brittney shakily got up and walked to the bleachers. He looked up and noticed that sunlight was coming in through the roof. "Wow." The twins took advantage of this distraction and knocked out Lee, leaving Aziz and Jane on their court.

Aziz yelled, "I will not stand for our team losing again!" He picked up the four balls that were on his team's court and flung them at the other team. Tristan dodged the attack, but Mona and the twins weren't so lucky.

"Rats! What can I do?" Tristan nervously said to himself as Aziz prepared another assault. "I know!" As Aziz's dodge balls flew at him, he caught one and deflected the rest.

"Oh dear!" Jane exclaimed as she flinched in fear from a ball flying at her. She held her hands out to block the ball but instead caught it. "Oh yay!"

Rob blew the whistle. "Aziz, you're out! Tristan, you're out! But since the Boy Scout and the hippie actually caught the ball, someone has to replace both guys."

"I got this!" Alex confidently said as he walked on the court.

"Can I go guys?" Jessie asked her team.

"NO," was the abrupt response from everyone except Wes.

"Why can't she? It's not like she doesn't have a lesser chance than the rest of y'all?" he responded.

"Now that is debatable-" Kat started but was interrupted as Jessie jumped for joy and hopped onto the court.

"We're doomed," Mona said as the other team saw their competition and laughed.

"This should be easier for our team to win this round, but it probably won't make much of a difference," Dylan said.

"Why don't you ever stop talking so negatively? Geez I mean, I know that I talk a lot and can be annoying at certain times, but can't you stop being pessimistic for just one second?" Gabby told the emo.

The whistle blew, and Jessie hustled to grab three dodge balls.

"Prepare yourself for the Alex Static Special!" the boy yelled as he rubbed a dodge ball on his shirt and threw it. At the same time, Jessie was imitating his actions.

"This better work!" she said nervously as she threw all three at once. One hit Alex's ball and stopped it in its tracks. The other two diverged and flew after Jane and Alex. The two ran around in panic but their attempts were futile. The dodge balls followed them until the remaining Deadly Deer ran into each other, the balls finally hitting their marks.

"The score is tied one to one!" Ryan yelled out from Rob's side.

"Alright, mates, Summer, Annie, Tom, Raj, Daniella, and I will go up their for this round. Any objections? No? Then good! Let's get up their and show them what we're made of!"

******

"Jake is definitely bossier than Aziz and Hailey combined. I would definitely make a better leader than he does," Brandon said into the camera as he whittled "I hate Jake" onto the side of the confessional. "Just you wait, I will lead this team onto victory!"

******

Blaire stood up. "Who hasn't gone yet?"

"I didn't! I'll go up! This'll be a blast you guys! I'm so excited, aren't you?" Gabby blabbed as she stood up and stood with Blaire.

"I'll go up," Eric meekly said.

"Fine. I'll help. Just so you can't say I didn't help today." Hailey stood up and walked onto the court with the two other girls.

"What about you, Dylan?" Blaire asked the emo.

"I'll go. I probably won't make that big of a difference," he said glumly as he walked over to the others.

"I'll go again," Sydney and Chelsea said simultaneously as both raced each other onto the court.

"Round three! Begin!" Rob announced, blowing the whistle.

"Let's try that tactic we used before," Jake told his teammates, who nodded. They picked up six dodge balls and threw them at Sydney. She caught Summer's ball and deflected the rest, one hitting out Raj.

"How about we try it on a weaker player?" Annie suggested.

"That might work," Jake said as they repeated their plan, aiming at Dylan instead, who refused to make a move to dodge.

"Oh well. I was going to be out eventually."

"And, repeat!" The Armadillos threw all of their balls in unison, this time aiming at Eric, who flew against the Plexiglass walls from the sheer force.

"And one more time!" Jake, Annie, Daniella, and Tom threw it at Gabby.

"Hold on you guys, I got this!" She dodged all four and passed the four balls to the rest of her teammates. "See, I told you I had that! I bet you doubted me because I talk too much and you find me annoying, so in your faces! I bet you didn't see that co-" She was cut off in mid-sentence as Jake threw a ball at her legs. "Darn."

"Hey Sydney! You do realize that I got two more people out than you did!" Chelsea bragged as she threw her ball at Tom, who fell backwards from the impact. "Make that three!"

"It's on, poof-head!" Sydney pulled the dodge ball from Blaire's hand and threw it at Annie's leg, getting the ginger out. Sydney picked up two more balls and threw them at Jake and Daniella. Both of them ended up on their backs with bruises on their faces. The whistle went off, and the Deer cheered for their second point.

"At least you guys are even, right?" Blaire told her two teammates as Sydney stuck her tongue out at Chelsea. She sighed.

******

"I have no clue whether those two will tear our team apart or help us with their intense rivalry," Blaire commented. "I do hope that it's the second option."

******

"Captain Outback, let me try guiding our team to victory," Brandon sneered as he pushed Jake aside."Okay, Wes, Sheila, Kat, Lily, and Lizzy, come up with me onto the court. I got us a plan. here's what we'll do." The six teammates huddled together and began to whisper.

Ty stood up to the Deer. "Alright people, we can easily win this. Let me, Sydney, Chelsea, Lee, and Austin handle this round."

"What about me?" EJ inquired.

"Fine. Just don't screw this one up."

"Teens, this is round four. If the Deadly Deer win this round, they win. Good luck to you Armadillos!" Ryan called out to the teams.

Rob blew his whistle, and both sides stared each other down. Brandon made the first move and grabbed four dodge balls. Ty and Lee gathered two and threw them at Lily and Lizzy. The twins ducked as the balls flew over their heads. Sheila and Kat caught them, sending the guys out of the round. Then, Wes, Sheila, and Kat threw their balls at Sydney, Chelsea, and Austin, respectively, shortly followed by Brandon and the twins. As expected, the three Deer dodged the first balls thrown but were hit out by the second dodge balls as they did not expect it.

"This is for my teammates!" EJ yelled as he picked up all six balls and began to spin as he did before. With a great war cry, all six dodge balls flew in all directions. The first hit Kat in the face, the second bounced off Sheila's leg, and the third hit Lizzy.

"I don't think he'll hit anyone el-" Dylan was about to say "else" when the fourth dodge ball hit him, to the amusement of his teammates. The fifth dodge ball hit Lily and the sixth was caught by Wes.

"Sorry EJ, but you are out!" Ryan called out as his co-host blew the whistle. EJ, dizzy, simply fell backwards.

"This is the final round, maggots! Both teams are tied, so you'd better make this good." Rob blew the whistle, and the final match began. Turn after turn, balls were thrown, caught, and deflected. Everyone went up at least once. Time seemed to trickle by slowly as the sun began to set. Joe, Jessie, Raj, Jake, Brandon, and Mona were on the Armadillos' side of the court while Ty, Brittney, Dylan who stood in the far corner, Blaire, Steve, and Alex were on the Deer's side. Ty and Brandon got each other out by throwing two balls at each other. Sheila got Alex and Brittney out, only to be kicked out of the game herself by Steve. Blaire's well-aimed ball got Raj out, followed by Jake. Steve deflected Joe's ball back at the Armadillo, only to be hit out by Sheila. Jessie blocked Blaire's attempt to get Sheila out, sending the blonde to the bleachers. Just like Brandon and Ty, Blaire and Sheila knocked each other out.

"We've lost! There's no one else left on our court!" Eric cried in disbelief.

"Not yet! Look!" Gabby pointed to Dylan, who stood in the corner. "Come on Dylan, get Mona out so we can finally win!"

"Okay then. I'll see if there is a point in trying," he sullenly replied. He picked up a dodge ball and walked over to Mona. "Meh." His ball flimsily rolled to Mona's feet. The Japanese girl just gave a look of confusion and threw her ball at Dylan, who stayed as still as a rock.

"With Dylan out, the Armadillos win!" Ryan exclaimed. "See you later tonight at the camp fire, Deer."

*******

"Well, it seems that we lost," Eric said to Steve. They were gathered with the rest of the faction, including the Armadillos' side. "Who do we vote for?"

"Why not Dylan? He was the one who lost it for us," the gamer replied.

"How about EJ? He failed you guys in two of the rounds!" Raj peeped up.

"Well, EJ is n-n-nice," Emily stuttered.

"You do have a point, Raj," Jane said as she wove some grass into a basket.

Steve looked at his watch. "It's time for us to go. See you guys." He and his other teammates left for the camp fire ceremony.

"Do you think one of our alliance members will get voted off tonight?" Mona thought out loud.

"Are you worried about one of them?" Joe asked. Mona stayed silent and blushed. "You are, aren't you!?"

"Not really..."

"Is it Steve or Eric?" Jessie prodded.

"You'll see. Later on." Mona said as she got up and walked into the forest. "Oh, and by the way, Jessie, I hope you two have a good relationship!"

"You have a boyfriend?" Raj asked in curiosity. "Who is it?"

"Why, it's you, of course!"

******

"I have no clue what I just heard, but sounded like donkey was kicked where it hurts the most," Wes scratched his head and shrugged.

******

"Deadly Deer, I see that you managed to land yourself into another elimination ceremony. Now, as you should remember, each person will get a s'more as a sign of safety. the person who does receive one may not come back ever to Camp Survivor unless we allow them to." He picked up three s'mores. "The first ones go to Ty, Blaire, and Steve." The three teens caught their s'mores in silence. "Austin, Lee, Gabby, and Jane, you are also safe." The host turned to the ten remaining campers. "Alex, Sydney, Chelsea, and Emily, catch your earned s'mores." The four contestants did as they gave a sigh of relief. "Hailey, Brittney, Aziz, and Eric, you are safe, leaving our resident pessimist and the fail-tornado." EJ and Dylan looked at each other nervously. "One of you will be going home tonight, and the last s'more goes to...

...

...

...

...

...EJ."

******

"Was I surprised that I was going home? Not really. I guess I kinda deserve it. As for who I want to win, I say someone from my team. but what are the chances of that happening?" Dylan waved goodbye to the camera and walked out of the confessional.

******

"Just make this quick, okay?" Dylan said to Ryan as the host loaded up the slingshot.

"Don't forget your floatie," Ryan said as he threw him the pool toy.

"I probably won't survive long enough in the water to use IIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTT!" The teen's last words were screamed as he was flung of the island.

*******

And it's the end of chapter four! Who is Mona's crush? Will Raj escape Jessie's grasp? Can EJ ever throw a proper dodge ball? Find out next week on the man hunt edition of Camp Survivor!
