The fabric of loss is woven of our memories. Some threads are lighter than others, those are the memories of those whose loss we understand. We still mourn them, but knowing the why, whether through fact or faith, allows us to remember the light they brought to our lives. Then there are the darker threads, the depth and shadow of the weave. Those are the memories of those we have lost without understanding why. Was it something we did? Could we have prevented it? What if something had been different? What if we had been different? There is cruelty in those threads, the ones that strangle our hearts and choke off our breath.
