First in idea for series of pb.
"Peck, peck, peck."

"Crack. Krinkle. Crunch!"

Momma Bird shifted in her nest.

"Yeah! Today Baby Bird will hatch out of her egg!"

Not much longer ...

What?!  What is that?? Momma Bird was startled!

Pick! Pick! Tickle! Tickle!

Momma Bird felt a little beak plucking at her feathers on her big old belly! She let out a chuckle from the tickle!

She stepped back off the egg she had been sitting on and exclaimed with tears of happiness in her eyes,

"Baby Bird! My baby!  Welcome to your new home! I'm your Momma and I love you with all my heart! Welcome to our nest!"

Momma Bird began to gently pick bits of eggshell from Baby Birds soft feathers.

"Pip, pip, pip" Baby Bird was trying to chirp, but all that came out was, "pip".

Momma Bird looked Baby Bird over still unable to believe her Baby finally hatched! Today! She was so excited!

"I can't wait until Daddy Bird gets home to see our new Baby!!" Momma Bird squealed.

Baby Bird was the most beautiful color blue. Her feathers sparkled in the sun. A perfectly shaped yellow beak with a red dot on the bottom. Truly a beautiful little bird. This bird is special. This is Baby Bird. My Baby Bird.

Momma Bird sighed a sigh of pure happiness.

"Chip, Chip, Chip." Baby Bird was still trying to chirp and was pecking as hard as she could at Momma Birds belly.

"You must be hungry Baby Bird!! You worked hard to get out of that shell! There, There...Momma Bird will go get a nice juicy worm for you!! I'll be right back..."

Momma Bird flew down to the ground. She didn't have to peck around in the dirt long before she found the perfect worm for Baby Bird's first meal.  It was a fat worm too! She plucked It up with her beak and went straight back to the nest...she could hear Baby Bird chirping. She was getting louder and better at calling her Momma.

Shhhh. Listen...

"Peepie! Peepie! Peepie!!!!" Baby Bird is crying. She is hungry!

Momma Bird landed in the nest and began feeding Baby Bird her first meal. She was so hungry Momma Bird thought she may have to go get another fat worm!

As she finished feeding Baby Bird her first worm, Momma Bird could see that her Baby's belly was full.

Baby Bird sighed a little baby sigh. Her eyes were filling with sleepiness.

"Chirpee...chirp". Baby Birds eyes were nearly closed.

The sun was setting on Baby Birds first day in this big beautiful world.

Momma Bird snuggled in close to Baby Bird and sang her a lullaby:

"Baby Bird, Baby Bird

You are my heart...

Close your eyes,

And sleep under stars.

Good night sun.

Good night bees...

Thank you wind

For rocking Baby gently in the trees."

Momma Bird gave the sleeping Baby Bird a good night kiss, whispered, "I love you Baby Bird." She tucked her wing around Baby Bird, closed her Momma Bird eyes And went to sleep with a big smile.

"Good night Baby Bird."

Momma Bird and Baby Bird were fast asleep when Daddy Bird got home to the nest.  He didn't wake them. He snuggled down in the nest with them and went to sleep...with a big smile on his face. He was excited for morning to come and for Baby Bird to wake up.

He whispered,

"Good Night Baby Bird. My heart. I'll see you in the morning, Sugar Feathers."
